The role you’ll contribute:

Performs daily terminal cleaning of the operating rooms, sub-sterile rooms, corridors. Maintains all documentation of environmental cleaning requirements within the department. Will help remove all sharps, bio waste, trash and linens. Will stock soap, sanitizer and paper towels.

  • Terminal Cleaning EVS Staff
  • Perform terminal cleaning and disinfection of operating or procedure rooms daily when the areas are being used.
  • Disinfect all floors using either a wet vacuum or a single-use mop and a facility-approved disinfectant, including areas under the OR bed and mobile equipment.
  • Clean and disinfect all exposed surfaces, including wheels and casters, of all items with a facility-approved disinfectant and low-linting cloth, according to the manufacturer’s written instructions for use, including
    • anesthesia carts and equipment (eg, IV poles, IV pumps);
    • anesthesia machines;
    • patient monitors;
    • OR beds;
    • reusable table straps;
    • OR bed attachments (eg, arm boards, sitrrups, head rests);
    • positioning devices (eg, viscoelastic polymer rolls, vacuum pack positioning devices);
    • patient transfer devices (eg, roll boards);
    • overhead procedure lights;
    • tables and Mayo stands;
    • mobile and fixed equipment (eg, suction regulators, medical gas regulators, imaging viewers, viewing monitors, radiology equipment, electrosurgical units, microscopes, robots, lasers);
    • storage cabinets, supply carts, and furniture;
    • light switches;
    • door handles and push plates;
    • telephones and mobile communication devices;
    • computer accessories (eg, keyboard, mouse, touchscreen);
    • chairs, stools, and step stools; and
    • trash and linen receptacles.
    • Run UVDI ultra violet sanitizer in each room used daily
  • May be called upon to help in other areas of the hospital at times
  • Scheduled Cleaning
    • All areas and equipment that are not terminally cleaned should be cleaned according to an established schedule.
    • The OR Director is responsible for scheduling cleaning assignments for supply cabinets and storage areas. The frequency defined in the schedule should be adequate to prevent build-up of dust or debris.
    • The OR Director will coordinate with EVS and Plant Operations to ensure that there is assigned accountability for scheduled cleaning of
      • Cleaned storage areas
      • Soiled storage areas
      • Sterile storage areas
      • Corridors
      • Walls and ceilings
      • Pneumatic tubes and carriers
      • Environmental services closets
      • Ventilation ducts
      • Air vents and grille plates
      • Sinks and wash basins
      • Faucets (descaling)
      • Refrigerators and ice machines
  • Documentation
    • Personnel performing environmental cleaning of intraoperative areas including operating and procedure rooms will document terminal and scheduled cleaning procedures on the appropriate cleaning log.
Qualifications


The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience within Environmental Services, specifically in ORs preferred
