Description:

Directs, plans, and organizes functions and responsibilities associated with the safe operation of the airport's Airside Operations. This includes oversight of personnel, contractors and projects in in maintaining Airport Rules and Regulations; management of department contracts; and management of the department budget.

Requirements:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide oversight and serves as a resource for Airport airside operations operator providing direction and training on Airport policies and procedures, ordinance/regulatory enforcement issues, etc.
  • Solve problems involving all airport tenants, including air carriers, FAA, all concessionaires, and parking lot and tram service operators.
  • Review budgetary line items for Airside Operations, Ground Transportation Programs.
  • Provide recommendations in budget process regarding these programs and other programs that have a budget impact.
  • Recommend and develop written plans concerning revenue producing systems and programs associated with Airside Operations.
  • Attend Airport construction meetings in order to provide guidance to engineers and architects concerning the practical impact upon tenant, passengers and vehicle movement affecting landside operations.
  • Ensure communication with providers and tenants regarding ground transportation route changes to ensure safe service delivery during construction. Perform inspections of construction projects to verify contractors work schedules and practices are within Airside Operations stated parameters.
  • Responsible for the immediate supervision of emergency or crisis situations occurring on the Airport roadways or airside property.
  • Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds including colleagues, supervisors, contractors, consultants, government officials and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to write professional reports, planning documents and policies. Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing and be able to negotiate resolution in conflict situations. Working knowledge of personal computers and ability to use related parking and transportation specific software.
  • Ability to analyze situation quickly and objectively and determine a proper course of action to be taken in high stress emergency situations. Ability to plan and coordinate multiple programs and activities.
  • Obtain and maintain security clearance as required by role and TSA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Comply with TBI Safety Program policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ related airport operations or parking operations experience preferably in the management of parking, security or transportation programs and personnel. Experience in parking, security or transportation work experience in an aviation environment, preferably at a class I airport; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws concerning parking, security and transportation in an aviation environment. Ability to read and understand regulatory and construction related documents.
  • Valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

While performing the duties of the position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the course of daily activities. The employee is regularly required to climb, lift, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • The Operations Manager works in a busy airport environment with constant interpersonal interaction with people of varying levels of sophistication. The work day is subject to frequent interruptions and distractions. Therefore, the ability to manage conflicting priorities and associated stress is critical to position success. Stress associated with responding to/solving issues, inquiries and/or complaints from employees, passengers, airport tenants and regulatory agencies. Operations are dynamic and situations may require immediate attention. This position has high exposure to the public and requires a professional approach and demeanor under all conditions. It also requires a genuine willingness to assist persons with a wide range of requests and needs, including individuals with disabilities.
