Position Snapshot

The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for overseeing the daily plant operations, making sure production is running safely and cost efficiently. Directs and coordinates manufacturing operations of all shifts and departments, to meet company objectives and standards as to employee relations, safety, quality, quantity, training, and to coach production supervisors to meet the production goals and continuous improvements.

Successful candidates for this role will have the following responsibilities:

· Responsible for overseeing all Production Supervisors when creating and monitoring production schedules.

o Daily checks for absentees and make necessary adjustments; distributes job assignments and informs employees of changes or events within the company. Communicates plant goals/concerns to associates.

o Contact employees frequently during the shift. Checks machines for proper operation and safety devices.

o Provides training, guidance, and motivation in all aspects of the manufacturing process and computer systems as well as sets a good example.

o Monitors materials used in production. Make adjustments in computer system as needed.

o Trains lead person in all aspects of position to fill in during foreman’s absence.

o Checks completed orders. Makes corrections on computer entries as needed. Provides additional training to the employee on the computer system.

· Responsible for providing leadership, motivation, and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives

o Prepares daily reports; production; employee reports regarding, counseling, etc; purchase requisitions; and work orders for maintenance. Must be familiar with computer software and applications to be used.

o Conducts safety training and leads monthly safety meetings.

o Attends all staff meetings, daily production meetings, and scheduled inventories.

o Checks quality of finished product early in shift to make adjustments as needed for improvement.

o Knows ASTM requirements for the finished products and ensures that product meets or exceeds requirements.

o Contributes to a safe, accident-free, working environment by abiding by all safety procedures and policies as defined by the Company and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications to be considered for this role:

· Broad technical training (high school + 1-3 years apprenticeship/applied trades training) including computer training required. Training generally applicable to manufacturing methods and techniques with a strong mechanical aptitude.

· A minimum of 10 years work-related experience is required.

· Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment.

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.

· Excellent reading, writing and communication skills.
