Operations Manager Position

Position Summary:
This is a full time Operations Manager position for the Southwest Colorado Education
Collaborative “the Collaborative”. This position includes procuring equipment under federal grant requirements, planning, building, and implementing innovative mobile learning labs, maintaining purchased equipment, building systems for check out, rotation, and management of equipment, and providing professional development as needed to educators on use of equipment.

Overview:
Comprised of five school districts in southwest Colorado (Archuleta, Bayfield, Durango, Ignacio, and Silverton), and two institutions of higher education (Pueblo Community College and Fort
Lewis College), the Collaborative was formed in 2021 to address areas of common need for students in the region, allowing them to access additional opportunities for post-secondary success. In partnership with the five school districts, two higher education partners, and local community partners, the Collaborative is establishing college and career pathways by partnering in a more deliberate and coherent way to ensure high quality programming is available to all students in the region.

To support this organization, the Collaborative is seeking a candidate who is a self-starter, creative, and solution-oriented. Someone who enjoys researching, building, and implementing systems for a new nonprofit that allows for students across the region to access industry-grade equipment to further their career and college aspirations. The Collaborative receives multi-year funding from several federal and state sources, as well as financial support from partner school districts. Ideally, we are seeking candidates who possess a background in procurement of equipment, operations, logistics, and transportation.

Essential Functions
This full time position includes purchasing non-capital and capital equipment under federal grant regulations, building systems to track, manage, and maintain equipment, identify and provide professional development for educators to utilize equipment, and managing the rotation of equipment via mobile learning labs across the region

Key functions include:

● Purchasing both capital & non-capital equipment relevant to career & college pathways while following federal grant guidelines.

● Moving of equipment via truck, trailer, etc with the ability to lift up to 50lbs as needed.
● Developing an operational plan to ensure mobile labs are moving from site to site smoothly. This may include assisting in aligning school schedules, monitoring weather and other challenges which may prevent labs from being transported across the region, and hiring drivers to move labs from site to site.

● Overseeing maintenance and upkeep on all mobile labs and equipment - develop methods to ensure technical and mechanical issues are addressed in a timely manner.

● Performing basic quality checks on mobile labs and the equipment.

● Maintaining inventory equipment related to career and college pathways.
● Researching the newest technologies and methods of delivery that could be implemented in mobile labs.
● Identifying training needed on equipment and support with providing training to identified educators
● Ensuring instructors have received all necessary training and develop methods to track and record all forms of professional development completed.
● Developing policies and procedures related to PD and the use of labs as needed.
● Developing and managing the check out process of equipment for educators to use.
● Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:
● Organized, attention to detail, self-starter with a growth mindset and creative problem-solver
● Proactive approach to workflow, including an eye for creating systems and improving processes and communication
● Strong communication skills to work with a wide variety of staff, vendors, and educators
● Proficiency with Google Suites and Microsoft Office products
● Attention to the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in education
● Strong prioritization skills, with flexibility to support multiple projects across a variety of work streams
● The curiosity and drive to create, build, and refine streamlined processes for educator access
● Valid driver's license is required
● Ability to drive a truck and trailer with equipment
● Ability to lift 50 lbs as needed
● Experience working in transportation, logistics, or business operations
● Experience managing various aspects of program operations

Preferred Qualifications:
● Associate’s degree with coursework in business, operations, organizational leadership or a related field
● Experience with procurement of non capital and capital equipment under federal grants
● Forklift Operator Certification
● Trailer Safety Certification

Compensation:
Salary is $60,000 for this full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package including: a health care stipend, workmen's compensation, short-term disability, and up to a 3% match for retirement.
