SUMMARY

Ensures maximum profitability of the producing plant by developing and directing short-term and long-term operating and maintenance plans; establishes standards of performance and enforces compliance with Company rules, policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinates implementation and execution of all health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Oversees and coordinates recruitment and new hire process to maintained required staffing and maintains employee training programs.
  • Oversees and coordinates raw material, in-process, and finished goods inventory control processes and reconciliations to ensure accurate inventories, timely movements of materials, and accurate measurements of material usage
  • Directs the activities of each department through supervisors who are responsible to product effective results within their area of responsibilities to ensure optimum product quality, availability and line efficiency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Engineering and/or technical background a plus
  • 5 - 7 years supervisory/management experience in 24/7 operation
  • Demonstrated capability in planning, organizing, integrating and measuring programs and projects; strong problem solving, analytical and computer skills
  • Must have the ability to work effectively and positively with all organizational levels, be proactive and an innovator
  • Knowledge of industry infrastructure, market factors affecting supply/demand, production and derivative processing economics, product distribution and storage, companies and individuals in purchasing roles, and generally accepted practices for conducting business in the industry
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control and lean manufacturing methods

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
