JOB SUMMARY:

Primarily responsible for the dispatching of company drivers, crew members, and equipment and overseeing completion of all associated paperwork. Position will be expected to perform various administrative and employee management tasks, assist with training and safety briefs, and ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Must work closely with General Manager to ensure execution of efficient operations and planning.

  • Must be flexible and available to work weekends, evenings as required.
  • This is an ON-SITE role.
  • You must hold a driver’s license and be able to commute to the work location.
  • You must be able to legally work in the United States.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Daily dispatching - schedule work assignments of drivers, helpers, and warehouse personnel. Coordinate use of all branch vehicles and equipment. Responsible for daily vehicle and equipment safety inspections and records.

Management and interpersonal skills – Building and encouraging the team through developing, training, coaching, counseling, and completing performance appraisals. Holding staff accountable for conducting work in a safe manner. Providing support for a culture that strives toward continuous improvement. Maintaining general responsibility for disciplinary process in the area of counseling in the form of oral and written warnings. Assisting in upholding the facility’s strategic plans while assuring alignment to the company’s vision.

Administrative - responsible for accurately completed paperwork as submitted by drivers and crew members. This paperwork includes, but is not limited to, daily time sheets, inventories, driver tickets, inspections sheets, trip reimbursements as requested, etc. Position requires daily use of a computer, answering phones, giving information to callers, and assisting with setting up jobs and appointments.

Maintaining compliance - with state and federal regulations and guidelines related to the moving and storage operations and industry in order to maintain safety and train employees.

Must have an in-depth knowledge of all moving equipment and proper uses for each including dollies, four - wheelers, lift-gates, piano boards, walk-boards, etc.

Safety Procedures - Must have a thorough knowledge safety procedures of in the moving industry and utilize policies set forth by Bekins Moving & Storage Company. Position is responsible for instructing, monitoring, and reporting the safety of the drivers, crew members and vehicles.

Customer Service - Required to provide and maintain superior internal and external customer service, appropriate scheduling designed to meet the customer's needs, and keep timely and adequate communication with customers.

Maintenance - Responsible for scheduling and monitoring regular and "as needed" vehicular and equipment maintenance and repair with third party maintenance/repair facilities.

May include operation of company equipment if qualified.

May include working at or monitoring at a job site if needed.

All other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Have comprehensive understanding of moving and storage operations including being proficient at packing and loading.
  • Carry out Supervisory responsibilities that align with company policies and procedures
  • At least 3-5 years of managerial or supervisory experience
  • Proven track record of job stability in previous roles
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to positively motivate staff
  • Ability to direct/delegate staff and establish/maintain accountability
  • Ability to work with a high-level of accuracy and a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively deal with push-back and overcome employee resistance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to initiate process improvements in order to meet operational goals
  • Ability to speak and write the English language at least at the high school level is required.
  • Ability to comprehend and implement oral instructions quickly.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations at least a high school level.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mover’s Suite preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate instructions and ideas to employees and/or customers.
  • Ability to understand and accept responsibilities as requested by management.
  • Accountable to meet or exceed operational goals

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Each of these physical activities is essential to the job occasionally to frequently. Standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50.0 lbs numerous times in a given shift, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping/bending, reaching, and handling.

Seeing is essential to the job.

Talking is essential to the job.

Hearing is essential to the job.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.

PAY SCALE RANGE & BENEFITS:

  • Pay $58,000.00 $68,000.00 per year DOE
