Job Description and Qualifications
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an IMMEDIATE opening for experienced Plant Operators at its New Orleans, LA facility.
The New Orleans facility consists of 1 Steam Methane Reformers (SMR), 2 Liquid Hydrogen Plants and a Nitrogen Liquefier.
You will be responsible for controlling and monitoring the processes to produce hydrogen (e.g., steam system, compressors, rotating equipment, and DCS operation), performing equipment inspections and minor maintenance work.
We encourage qualified candidates with strong mechanical proficiency and/or military or technical background with plant process experience to apply.

Daily activities include, but not limited to the following:
- Actively participate in the basic safety process, sharing responsibility for the site’s overall safety performance.
- Maintain operation of plant; assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs, instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting
- Follow, update and maintain operating procedures to ensure safety and efficiency of the operations
- Provide troubleshooting expertise for the production units
- Oversee trailer loading operations
- Share site responsibilities: PM's, Plant readings, monitor inventories, etc.
- Come to work every day with an attitude of "What can I do for you?"
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Will be exposed to high noise levels
- Able to meet call-in requirements as needed
- Elevated work required, greater than 100'
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts
- Must be a strong teammate
- Strong commitment to safety
- Strong communications skills are a must
- Initiative driven attitude
