A Waste/Wastewater Treatment Operator performs a variety of tasks to ensure the wastewater facility is clean and in good operating condition. Routine general maintenance and repair of equipment ensure that waste/wastewater is properly treated prior to discharge. During the hotel operating season, the facility is processing high volumes of guest and employee waste/wastewater which then requires more frequent maintenance and inspections. Seasonal operator job ensures that our waste/wastewater treatment is in compliance with regulatory requirements and can maintain certification to operate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots hotel facility wastewater treatment plants, collection, and processing of domestic wastewater, drinking water treatment, and distribution systems.
• Completes maintenance on treatment equipment including pumps, motors, and blowers.
• Completes light-duty maintenance on rolling equipment.
• Maintains operation maintenance and repair records.
• Work in confined space entries to repair or clean equipment and tanks.

REQUIREMENTS

• Current certifications of level II WTP Operator and level II WWTP Operator, as administered by the State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.
• Valid Driver’s License (not revoked or suspended) with fewer than three moving violations.
• Minimum age of 18 years to operate service vehicles and maintenance equipment.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs./23kg.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and will be a part of our random drug testing program.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
• Participates in HAP’s sustainability program, aka “Sustain Alaska & the Yukon”, and efforts by actively recycling (where available), reducing waste, and educating guests about our commitment to the environment.
• Participate in HAP’s safety culture to ensure a safe workplace for all team members and a safe vacation experience for all guests.
• Dedicated to delivering excellent customer service to all guests, coworkers, and vendors.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).

• Ability to organize and prioritize work, and maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
• Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
• Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
