Job Responsibilities:

To provide leadership for the outlet. Work in all areas of the outlet under the direct supervision of the Distribution Center Manager. Works with the Distribution Center Coordinator to meet the operational goals to maximize production, sales, and customer service within the outlet.
A. Assists with hiring, orientation, training, development, and coaching of staff. Participates in interviewing candidates for outlet related positions. Completes hiring process and ensures successful orientation, training, development, coaching, discipline, and evaluates performance on positions under direct supervision. Promotes and models a team-based approach amount staff and works across departments to support all aspects of employment at Goodwill.
B. Daily performs and oversees the following duties to include, but not be limited to:
  • Opens the Outlet on a timely basis and reports any security issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinates the operation of material movement throughout the outlet and warehouse.
  • Supervises the safe operation of the tipper to include but not limited to: loading, tipping, maintenance and record keeping.
  • Maintains and maximizes sales through frequent rotation of product. Meets or exceeds sales goals on a consistent basis.
  • Ensures quality of customer service is provided by all employees in a timely and courteous manner to all internal and external customers.
  • Ensures cash handling policies are followed. Reports issues to the Distribution Center Manager and Loss Prevention in a timely manner.
  • Secures the building as needed, including but not limited to: doors, docks, safe and alarms.
C. In the absence of the Distribution Center Manager, oversees the department to ensure the flow of production and reports any problems and concerns to the Director of Logistics – Post Consumer Product.
D. Assists with supervision of the safe operation of the baler to include, but not be limited to: weighing, storage, processing, loading, maintenance, record keeping and coordinating with salvage dealers.
E. Maintains an awareness of safety practices, techniques, precautions and performs all duties in a safe manner and ensures that assigned staff adhere to all safety practices, rules, and regulations. Trains/re-trains staff as necessary. Reports safety issues to the Distribution Center Manager.
F. Presents a neat and professional appearance to the general public and employees. Answers questions and provides general information as necessary.
G. With the assistance of the Distribution Center Manager participates in administrative responsibilities to include but not limited to:
  • Interview potential new employees and completes all required HR paperwork.
  • Participates or completes employee reviews, 90 day and annual. Must be reviewed by supervisor before issuance.
  • Completes and issues corrective action up to and including written warnings to staff. Any action being taken that are beyond written warning must be issued by the Warehouse Supervisor.
H. Communicates progress, problems, and concerns to the Distribution Center Manager.

Job Qualifications:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years’ related experience required.
  • One year supervisory experience required.
  • Previous retail experience preferred.
  • POS and basic computer experience preferred.
  • Ability to speak, hear, read, and write and have basic business math skills.
  • Ability to use business equipment such as phone, POS terminals, Charge card terminals, fax, printer/scanner.
  • Must have the flexibility to work mandatory overtime during peak times and varied hours to include Saturdays and holidays.
  • Must have knowledge to operate a computer and be proficient in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle or reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work with power equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks, trash compactors, balers, and operate equipment following all safety guidelines at all times.
  • Must be willing to be certified certification for powered industrial equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work in all weather extremes.
  • Ability to work around dust, dirt, fumes and varied noise levels.
  • Ability to stand continuously for more than 75% of the shift.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, crouch, reach, and bend.
  • Ability to bend, kneel and stoop to open and close doors and secure loads for 10% of the shift.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently and greater than 50 pounds occasionally.
