SUMMARY


Responsible for inspecting finished product to ensure that it meets safety and quality requirements. Helps with daily sanitation and clean-ups.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.
  • Sorts and inspects finished product looking for defects, off-cuts or foreign material discarding unusable product in appropriate waste container.
  • Discards of unsuitable product or foreign material.
  • Strips out held product and re-casing as necessary.
  • Makes tickets for totes.
  • Attends and participates in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and monthly informational meetings.
  • Communicates any problems or changes in production or quality to supervisor and appropriate personnel.
  • Understands and adheres to the concepts and techniques of the quality process in order to ensure a quality operation.
  • Keeps area clean and orderly in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Helps to build and promote a strong “Teamwork” environment in each individual work group, the Factory, and the Company.
  • Participates in continuous improvement process.


The employee may be required to successfully complete the orientation and training provided during the first ninety- (90) days of employment.

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY


Responsibility to monitor work areas, watch for suspicious behavior and report any concerns regarding unidentified visitors and/or unauthorized personnel.


Authority to question and take appropriate measures regarding the safety of themselves, other employees, products, and equipment.


Responsibility of maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the food processing facility, especially where any raw or finished product is produced.


Authority to report and/or eliminate hazards to the safety of the food that is produced in the facility.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


High school diploma or general education degree (GED).


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


REASONING ABILITY


Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Carrying up to 50 lbs. for 50 feet on even surface.

  • Horizontal reaching: 15 ½ inches (width of moving belt = 24 – 25 inches)

  • Physical agility/flexibility: Low to med. Must be able to climb/descend stairs, stoop to clear 47 inch height.


  • Able to perform all job safety requirements.


  • Able to perform all company handling and sanitation standards.


  • Average hours per work shift: 8 hours. Time spent inside: 100%


  • Availability of task rotation: At least ever 2 hours. Not allowed to leave lines unless replaced. Must be at work station continuously.


  • Personal protective equipment furnished by company (i.e. hard hat, hearing protections, aprons, etc.)
