BASIC FUNCTIONS:

· Maintain all paint guns. Including rebuilding, cleaning, repairing, replacing parts and general preventative maintenance on paint guns. To include equipment in paint and powder booths

· Conduct test on paint guns to ensure they are in proper working condition.

· Maintain and monitor all equipment associated with painting, including pressure pots, paint hoses, paint shakers etc.

· Perform preventative maintenance on all paint related equipment as scheduled.

· Report all paint gun and paint equipment problems to the Line Supervisor.

· Set-up paint gun and paint pots for proper paint flow.

· Maintain all paperwork associated with being a Paint Application & Equipment Maintenance Specialist including, but not limited to: Gun & Paint Pot Maintenance Logs

· Monitor all gun and paint inventory items associated with the production demands of the department including supplies, materials, and equipment with the assistance of the Plant Superintendent and/or Paint Mixing Technician

· Have knowledge of electrostatic, two-part components, paint gun repairs and all spray application equipment and paint and powder booth equipment. Must have the knowledge or learn how to manually operate electrostatic and/or conventional spray equipment to paint a wide variety of parts.

· Set-up paint gun and paint pots for proper paint flow.

· Maintain inventory on all necessary parts regarding paint guns, pressure pots and paint related materials.

· Maintain housekeeping within all areas of the finishing facility including paint mix rooms, maintenance crib, and paint stock cabinets.

· Monitor and maintain booth checks for the Overhead, Flat Line, and Plant 2 Paint Booths

· Perform other duties as assigned by management

· Follow all safety/environmental and quality requirements/procedures

· Paint Application Functions

o Training of all painters and paint mixing technicians

Act as a backup Paint Mixing Technician with responsibility for to include:

o Mixes paint (solvent and water base) for use in painting according to Tech Data specifications

o Ensure the flushing out of paint hose lines are done before each change of color.

o Properly discards left over paints, thinners, solvents according to the proper standards

o Communicating with supervisors and coworkers about processes

o Assist with monitor all paint inventory items associated with the production demands of the department including supplies, materials, and equipment with the assistance of the Plant Superintendent.

o Maintain necessary records of all paint material mixed and disposed as outlined on the OJT

o Read and interpret viscosity and thickness instrumentation.

o Responsible for keeping the mix room and paint booths.

o Manually operate electrostatic and/or conventional spray equipment to paint a wide variety of parts.

o Assist painters when issues arise.

  • Assist with all booth filter changes

o When needed apply paint to parts to meet required quality and finish specifications & requirements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

· 1-4 years of gun and paint pot maintenance experience preferred. Maintenance and/or Chemistry experience is preferred.

· Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills required.

· Ability to work in a high performance, fast-paced team environment.

· Ability to adapt to and work effectively within a constantly changing environment.

· Must be a team player, be organized, self-motivated, and problem-solving abilities

· Good interpersonal skills and communication skills

· Must be able to work Overtime as needed and arrive 1 hour before scheduled shift to ensure guns and paint pots are ready to go before the start of the shift.

· Must be able to wear a respirator.

· Must understand the proper operation and use of all related painting equipment including spray guns, paint pots, and spray booths.

  • Periodic lifting and carrying objects over 50 pounds
  • Reaching above and below shoulder level
  • Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping to complete or inspect repairs
  • May be exposed to fumes, solvents & other chemicals
  • MUST be able to wear protective equipment, including respirator
