Aviation Paint Technician

Elite Air Service is seeking an experienced paint technician to join our exterior refurbishment team. As part of the paint team you will work to complete company and customer owned projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

• Adherence to company policies and procedures in performance of job duties.

• Cleaning, masking, stripping (chemical and mechanical), prepping (sanding, corrosion removal, body work), priming, layout, painting, and detailing of aircraft.

• Prepare surfaces to be painted or sealed as requested by the working instructions using abrasives, solvents, and brushes.

• Installs masking for strips, N Numbers, logos and/ or other aircraft painting detail.

• May perform sealant application assuring compliance with technical and quality requirements.

• May assist with application or installation of logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces, according to specifications, using measuring instruments, stencils, and patterns.

• Ensures the use of appropriate technical references and tools in performing paint and sealing duties.

• Perform cleaning and maintenance of all currently used painting or sealing equipment.

• Ensures all Federal and local environmental and OSHA/TOSHA regulations are complied with.

• Cleaning, care, proper storage, and organizing shop tools and equipment.

• Maintaining a clean and organized shop floor (including all back shop rooms and offices)

• Legibly document work performed utilizing company provided forms per training received

• Attention to detail

• Pride in workmanship,

• Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate with mechanical and interior teams and take direction from multiple parties.

• Use of mixing bank and related equipment to obtain specified color or shade to match existing finishes.

• Calculates mix ratios in order to mix sealant, filler materials, and paint

• Must have experience cutting and buffing polyesters, urethanes, imron and acrylic clear coats

• Performs moderately complex to complex filling operations related to the cosmetic appearance of the part being worked

• Performs detailed masking operations

• Documents the work performed on the work orders per company policy

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Experience:

• Generally minimum of 5-10 years of related and recent experience in a paint facility prepping & applying paint on aircraft, auto, RVs etc. Paint experience on aluminum vehicles preferred, i.e. Morgan Olson, Duncan Aviation, Spartan Motors, and other aluminum vehicle manufacturers and repair experience is a great match for us.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of preparation and painting of aircraft, autos, or RVs etc.

• Safety procedures for Chemicals handling.

• Knowledge of blueprints and painting diagrams.

• Strong ability on paint spraying

• Understand technical management and quality assurance procedures.

• Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State, and Federal regulations.

• Must be able to be certified and/or able to wear a respirator.

Working Conditions / Environment/ Special Requirements

• Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.

• As required by the position, must have the ability to wear a respirator as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 "Respirator Protection" regulations with no restrictions that would prevent the proper use and/or seal of the respirator.

• Employees will be subject to the random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations

Requirements:

• Aviation experience preferred; Auto, RV experience etc are encouraged to apply

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment and background check

• Must pass continued employment FAA required drug screening at random intervals

• Follow all company policies and directives
