Summary:
The Painter will be responsible for scheduled maintenance and repairs of exterior and interior painted surfaces of Campus buildings.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following.


Responsible for following a scheduled paint maintenance plan for interior and exterior surfaces.


Responsible for repair of painted wall and ceiling surfaces as well as minor sheetrock repair.


Planning for painting projects, including materials and tool requirements, working with customers and other trades staff to determine the best schedule,


Maintain an appropriate inventory of supplies required for routine maintenance of interior and exterior painted surfaces.


Maintain a safe and orderly shop area and work space.


Responsible for general maintenance of all Campus buildings.


Performs other duties as assigned.


Ability to work well with others and to coordinate activities with other Physical Plant staff members.


Regular attendance is required.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence using smart devices. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems in a professional and thoughtful manner.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

A valid Tennessee Drivers license is required.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives; risk of radiation; and vibration.


Although most work can be completed during the course of a regular eight hour per day, five weekday schedule, there will be times when alternate work schedules will be required.


The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
