To serve in a clinical capacity to better provide quality patient care to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as needed. Under the supervision of the Administrator / Executive Medical Director, assist in the Emergency Department, hospital and other care areas as well as other assigned duties. Participates in the Nursing Service and Hospital Quality Improvement Plan. The Paramedic will work closely with the attending physician and nursing team as well as the ancillary departments of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:*

  • Initiates and completes appropriate forms and documentation for initiation of patient chart
  • Serves as the telemetry technician for the hospital will observe telemetry monitors at the nursing unit for changes in rate, rhythm, vital signs or other critical care monitors and serve as a resource for treatment of acute changes or conditions
  • Attends and participates in All Staff, Nursing, Ancillary and clinic (ER) staff meetings
  • Performs first responder care inside the facility within the scope and training of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the State of Wisconsin EMS scope of Practice and Critical Care Paramedic guidelines
  • Will provide assistance to the clinical team including delivery of medications as outlined in the Wisconsin Paramedic Medication List
  • Assists in delivery of direct patient care in the Emergency Department/Clinic, high observation unit, hospital, residential and school programs
  • Performs CPR based on established standards and assists during Dr. Medic / Dr. Stat.
  • Adheres to and supports the policies of Lakeview Specialty Hospital & Rehab and abides by the general guidelines of conduct while on duty.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:*

  • Skill, Knowledge and Abilities: ACLS, intubation, IV initiation, medication delivery, phlebotomy, physical assessment, vital signs, telemetry, first aide, computer applications/documentation.
  • Education: High School Graduate required. Undergraduate degree preferred in healthcare related field.
  • Licensure: Current license by the State of Wisconsin as Paramedic; current license by the National Registry for EMT – P preferred; Current CPR and ACLS.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years as Paramedic
  • Exposure Categories: Category I = Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues

Pay: $16.00 - $26.00 per hour
