JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE : PART-TIME CENTER CUSTODIAN – PCA OLDER ADULT CENTER
DEFINITION : Under the supervision of the Center Director, the part-time Custodian works with the full-time Custodian to provide cleaning and sanitation services for the Senior Center facility and ensures proper maintenance of all areas of the facility in accordance to Health Department and Senior Center Standards.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education
§ High school or vocational school graduate or equivalent.
Experience
§ Two years' related maintenance experience
§ Some experience completing minor repairs
§ Some familiarity with HVAC systems
§ Experience receiving and accounting for deliveries
§ Experience coordinating and moving material and furnishings

§ Ability to use initiative to carry out maintenance tasks and projects
§ Ability to communicate clearly and provide accurate feedback
§ Ability to be flexible and reliable

Required Knowledge and Skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently is critical.
Ability to lift over 30 lbs.
DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS :
- Work with the Full-Time Custodian to maintain clean restrooms, including all sinks, stall walls, toilets, urinals and floors. Restroom cleanliness must be checked on a daily basis at regular intervals during the day.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum floors; dust offices, furniture and fixtures throughout the facility
- Clean-up spills or problem areas immediately.
- Pick up and remove trash from all areas.
- Clean trash cans and waste baskets as needed; ensure all trash cans have lids and liners.
- Clean kitchen including sink, shelves, floors and wipe down kitchen appliances on a daily basis, or more frequently as needed.
- Assist with moving supplies, equipment, and small furniture as needed in support of center programming.
- Report any identified malfunctions or defects related to the electrical, mechanical or plumbing operations of the center. All defects or damages are to be reported as required.
- Serve as back-up to the Full-Time Custodian to maintain all records related to the repair and maintenance of center equipment including HVAC inspections, sprinkler inspections, etc.
- Maintain the exterior of the facility including clean sidewalks and light snow removal; assist with garden maintenance as needed.
- Perform light and routine maintenance including changing lightbulbs; periodic inspection of outside and roof top drains, downspouts and gutters; minor facility repairs.
- Ensure proper signage is affixed where needed (i.e. “No Smoking” “Wash Hands”, etc.).
- Other duties as may be assigned.
