New England College with campuses in Henniker and Manchester, NH seeks part-time lecturers to teach WR 1010 Composition.
WR 1010 Composition is a first-year writing course that focuses on enhancing skills in critical thinking and analysis of various rhetorical situations. Utilizing composition theories of reading about writing, information literacy, and analysis of genre, students are asked to demonstrate proficiency in written communication. With an emphasis on civics and the natural environment, students will learn how to evaluate, cite, and document primary and secondary research sources, as well as how to develop arguments and support them with sound evidence. Instructors are expected to collaborate with colleagues, utilize shared major assignments and rubrics, and participate in library lessons. However, they are given the opportunity to develop low-stakes writing assignments and in-class lessons that align with their own pedagogical practices.
New England College hosts the most diverse student population in New Hampshire. Many of our students are the first-generation to attend college, first-generation or 1.5 generation American citizens, and newly arrived refugees and immigrants. Experience supporting these populations through basic writing instruction and/or English as a second or other language (ESOL) would be beneficial.

  • Tuesday & Thursday 8:00-9:55am
  • Tuesday & Thursday 10:10am-12:05pm
  • Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 9:10-10:20am
  • Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 10:30-11:50am
  • Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 12:00-1:20pm
  • Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 1:30-2:50pm

Essential Duties Summary
  • Engage all students to facilitate and achieve course learning outcomes
  • Review and grade all work submitted by students and provide timely and substantive feedback
  • Coach struggling students toward success
  • Work with course and other college content instructors
  • Collaborate with writing faculty, library staff, and professional tutors to promote student success
  • Adhere to administrative guidance on attendance tracking and early warning systems

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in rhetoric, composition, TESOL, or a related field.
Proven record of teaching effectiveness
Professional experience in respective field (preferred)
