Duties and Responsibilities

The Part-Time Re-Entry Resource Navigator provides assistance to Digital Inclusion program participants who are formerly incarcerated or otherwise criminal-justice-system involved. Helps participants get the support they need to access virtual and in-person resources. Assists in interviewing participants and gathering information related to basic stated needs (i.e. technological, employment, educational). The Re-Entry Resource Navigator will connect participants directly to vetted community agencies and provide clerical support to the Outreach Services team by answering phones, organizing, and performing basic data entry. The Part-Time Re-Entry Resource Navigator is also responsible for entering and collecting data, compiling reports, and maintaining accurate record keeping.

Position Information

• Varied schedule with a maximum of 17 hours per week. This position requires 2-4 hours per week at Long Island City, Far Rockaway, and Jamaica.
• Remote work possible.
• Extensive traveling required.
• The rate of pay is $20.00 per hour.
• **This is a temporary grant-funded position through 08/30/2023.**
• Part-time positions do not offer any medical or health benefits.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or High School Equivalency is required. Associate’s degree, preferred. Demonstrated interest or familiarity with working for justice-involved populations. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and intermediate computer/smartphone skills with ability to learn new technical skills. Embodies ethical standards and integrity reflective of Queens Public Library and Queens Defenders. Must possess the ability to work with a wide range of people and be a natural communicator. Compliance with the Library’s confidentiality policies required.
