DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Youth Justice Court Coordinator, the Part-Time Youth Justice Outreach Liaison will assist with the Youth Justice Court program. Provides support to Youth Librarians and the Youth Justice Court Coordinator to implement the Youth Justice Court Program, creates programs, maintains knowledge of current youth justice practices, and facilitates staff training.

The Youth Justice Outreach Liaison works closely with community library staff, local nonprofits, and other youth organizations. Develops and maintains working relationships with neighborhood schools, precincts, and other organizations. Attends neighborhood council and community meetings and assists the outreach team with general outreach. The Youth Justice Outreach Liaison will reach out to the community through schools, youth organizations, and other nonprofits. This position will also assist Teen Center managers and Young Adult librarians in other youth-related programs and services. Performs other duties as required.

POSITION INFORMATION

• The rate of pay for this position is $22.00 per hour.
• Varied schedule, usually Monday through Friday during business hours, and there may be occasional evenings and weekends with a maximum of 17 hours per week.
• Extensive traveling required.
• Part-time positions do not offer any medical or health benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma required. Associate’s Degree preferred. At least one year of experience working or volunteering in one or more of these areas: youth, justice-involved projects, advocacy, or related areas. Must be able to obtain and maintain NYC and NYS correctional facilities clearances. Valid NYS identification is required. Must be able to demonstrate a high comfort level speaking in groups and/or participating in public speaking. Interest in working with youth is required. Must be able to demonstrate a drive to impact and influence services provided in our community and flexibility in approaching daily responsibilities.

Must be knowledgeable in a range of technology or have the willingness to learn whatever technology is required for the job.
