The Participant Experience Coordinator will coordinate services between the Flaum Eye Institute and Goodwill Vision Services, will ensure a streamline process for the service delivery, and increase the effectiveness of the participants continuum of care. The Participant Experience Coordinator will conduct pre appointment questionnaires and needs assessment prior to the participant coming into the Low Vision Clinic.


Upon arrival to the clinic and completion of the participants; low vision evaluation, the Coordinator shall provide preliminary training for low vision strategies, perform item dispensing, will ensure that preparatory applications are completed prior to in home services, and will schedule initial home appointment for assigned services providers.


The Participant Experience Coordinator will subscribe to and actively promote adherence to Goodwill of the Finger Lakes values and mission and will work with an interdisciplinary team to achieve organizational and departmental strategic goals.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all aspects of participant coordination from entry into program to closure, which shall include in person and virtual communication.
  • Coordinates participants schedules and confirms attendance for on campus training and home service.
  • Maximizes low vision participants experience while on campus.
  • Evaluates and dispenses accessible devices based on program eligibility and participants needs.
  • Collaborates with agency community programs staff to maximize participants independence in support of their adjustments to visual impairment.
  • Leverages agency resources and referrals to 211, Work Force Development (WFD), and Good Neighbor to support participants the needs.
  • Evaluates participants functional skills regarding personal management, communication skills, home management, adaptive technology, mobility skills with reduced vision, and home safety, and provides insights and direction to applicable providers.
  • Maintains documentation in compliance with stakeholder requirements and agency procedures in a professional and timely manner.
  • Fosters effective communications within Vision Services, the agency, and in the community:
  • Delivers community presentations and represents the agency at meetings.
  • Participates in agency meetings as assigned.
  • Acknowledges the value and dignity of each individual.
  • If credentialed in OMA, VRTA COTA, PTA, LMSW, LCSW, works with other Vision Services staff to create, implement and carry out various group training classes to promote participant education and independence.
  • Including but not limited to coordinating with other content experts who will provide insight and can teach some of the classes.
  • Responsible for modifying instruction as needed to ensure all participants develop an understanding of the skills and techniques being taught.
  • Contributes to the effectiveness of the agency and the department by completing all other tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in health and human services or related field, and a minimum of 3 years experience in a clinical setting required. Bilingual skills preferred. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. OMA, VRTA COTA, PTA, LMSW, LCSW or related credential highly desired.

Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and when communicating processes and methods to both participants and internal/external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have strong technical, organizational, and planning skills, and the ability to effectively communicate across various platforms. Individuals shall be compassionate, motivating, flexible, innovative, and be able to deal with ambiguity.

  • The employee will be required to occasionally lift 20 30 pounds. The employee needs to be able to travel to locations in various weather conditions and to have reasonable mobility
