  • Must have mechanical knowledge of tractor, trucks and trailers so as to be able to order the correct parts for inventory and repair orders.
  • Must be able to write legibly and complete required paperwork and records.
  • Must have basic familiarity with personal computers.
  • Must have basic typing and calculator skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of telephone etiquette.
  • Must maintain a good work ethic, be self-directed and be able to work without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to work required, set hours.
  • Must be willing to participate in training classes given by or requested by the company.

Job Description:
JOB TITLE: Parts Inventory
REPORTS TO: Shop Foreman
OVERVIEW OF ROLE: Partsman is responsible to acquire, keep inventory of and distribute parts to in-house shop mechanics and service center shop personnel and vendors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Control parts inventory to maintain only necessary parts.
  • Control inventory to meet or exceed predetermined total inventory dollar amount.
  • Follow up on requests from in-house and outside mechanics and advise mechanics on other options, if available.
  • Review repair orders for proper part quantity and the correct pricing.
  • Process all invoices from the central maintenance department, outside maintenance departments and vendors to ensure correct pricing.
  • Work with Maintenance Coordinator regarding warranty returns.
  • Process all repair orders from previous day.
  • Responsible to monitor Altoona Service Center fuel level, advise data entry of quantity needed and date fuel is required for delivery.
  • Work with vendors to ensure best pricing and service received.
  • Work with vendors to ensure parts availability is current.
  • Responsible to prepare freight bills for daily maintenance shipments.
  • Responsible to handle inbound shop freight pertaining to parts returns.
  • Responsible to monitor stock so when equipment is traded / sold the inventory is at a minimum quantity and necessary arrangements are in order to return unnecessary parts.
  • Keep Shop Foreman advised of parts availability as well as parts received and needing installed.
  • Responsible to maintain a neat, orderly and safe work area.
  • Fully support all technologies and processes, introduced by Ward, that are intended to improve efficiencies and/or the customer experience. Support would include adherence to training programs, guidelines and processes associated with these systems.
