Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Parts Manager in Princeton, West Virginia. The Parts Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the parts team, including the parts sales counter, warehouse, and shipping/receiving functions, and fleet vehicles/routes used to distribute parts in our territory. Duties include managing inventory to minimize loss and maximize revenue, evaluating services and contracts related to parts, managing customer and vendor relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This position requires a high mechanical aptitude, thorough understanding of equipment parts and components, and the ability to manage a large-scale operation. Seeking candidates with previous parts operations management experience. Background in heavy equipment or automotive parts/service preferred. Proven leadership experience required.

Requirements for the Parts Manager position include:

  • Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
  • Able to develop and maintain close relationships with Caterpillar, Inc. contacts to ensure accurate and timely deliveries of CAT parts.
  • Able to resolve issues related to CAT parts quickly and efficiently.
  • Able to negotiate contracts, manage cost, and form partnerships necessary to ensure efficient/low cost options for freight and transportation needs.
  • Must take ownership of the entire customer experience specific to interaction with the parts operations.
  • Able to prepare and submit annual budget to Director of Parts for the parts department to include projections for sales, gross profit, direct expense levels, and growth initiatives from the previous year’s level of success.
  • Strong communication skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Strong PC skills and the ability to self-develop and adapt to changing technology.
  • Able to work shifts as needed, including days, nights and/or weekends to meet customer demand.

Physical requirements must be met for the Parts Manager job, including the ability sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Able to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned.
