Parts Manager

Job Summary:

Ensure prompt and courteous service to customers by effectively managing employees of the Parts Department. The Parts Manager is responsible for the oversight and direction of personnel throughout the department, as well as ensuring proper inventory of the department to accommodate customer requests.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Parts Manager supervises a staff that includes Sales Representatives, Counter Personnel, Shipping and Receiving Personnel, and Delivery Personnel. Supervisory responsibilities include making hiring recommendations; making final hiring decisions; instructing and training in work methods; planning, scheduling and assigning work; checking and approving work; conducting performance evaluations; recommending salary adjustments; making effective recommendations regarding promotions, making final decisions on promotions; determining disciplinary actions regarding unsatisfactory employees; and making final decision to terminate unsatisfactory employees.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • AAS preferred
  • Valid NYS drivers’ license free from major infractions required.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory/managerial experience required.
  • 3-5 years Parts/Sales experience required.
  • 3-5 years Inventory Control experience required.
  • 1-3 years Computer Skills experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.
  • Understanding and recognizing part numbers and line codes to ensure the proper selection of parts, including identifying sequences of numbers and letters accurately and rapidly.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Excellent communication and managerial skills.
  • Knowledge of products, performance standards, warranties.
  • Knowledge of inventory management, purchasing, product data management and production control and costing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
  • Ability to gather data, analyze information, and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.

Equipment, Machines And Software Used:

This position requires the regular use of a computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, scanner, calculator, safety glasses, fork lift, and a pallet jack.

Computer Software: Microsoft Outlook/Google, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat.

This is a full-time position.

Pay is commensurate with experience.
