The Pastry Cook will accurately and efficiently assist the Pastry Chef with all pastry preparation prior to cooking. The Pastry Cook will perform other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all pastry menu item plates along with Garde Manger when applicable. This is a full time position with benefits and free parking
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Prepares a variety of pastry items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
  • Prepares item for ice cream making, cake baking, poaching, roasting or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating.
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
  • Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.
  • Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for pastry and Garde Manger stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.
  • Willingness to learn and gain advanced pastry knowledge.
  • Interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
  • Assists Pastry Chef with menu planning
  • Performs other duties and tasks as required by Pastry Chef or Manager-on-Duty

Job Requirements:
1. Culinary Degree required.
2. One-Two years of Food and Culinary experience
3. Ability to work evening hours
3. Excellent Written and Oral Communication skills.
4. Ability to deal with difficult internal and external guests with tact, professionalism and diplomacy.
5. Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations
6. Attention to detail and artistic ability to create theme menus items, presentation, etc.
