Position Title: Patient Accounting Representative I
Department: Fiscal
Reports To: Patients Accounts Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for all procedures to ensure the proper registration, data input of the proper information for each patient without regard to the financial status of any patient, insurance verification, billing, and collection follow-up with insurance companies and any other private pay sources including contracted agreements.
Salary Range
$23.50 - $26 / Hour DOE

HOURS
8 per Day / 5 day per Week
CATEGORIES OF DUTIES
- Interface with insurance companies, which could include verification of benefits, claim follow-up and collection.
- Respond to requests for information or data from other departments, which will lead to better admission control.
- Coordinate and verify the daily census for accuracy and completeness, distribute the correct census to all interested parties.
- Bill for all services provided by the facility at the time of discharge, on established schedules, and for contract services.
- Counsels private pay patients on the facility’s payment requirements.
- Sate entry of required data elements to meet the requirements of the patient accounting system.
- Provide the appropriate required documentation for all admissions, without regard to treatment setting.
- Post payments and adjustments to patient’s accounts to maintain proper account balance.
- Prepare patients accounts for delivery to outside collection agency for bad-debt follow-up.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of that individuals job performance.
- Other duties as assigned by Director and/or Administration.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or G.E.D.
EXPERIENCE
- Familiar with medical terminology.
- Previous admission experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare environment.
- Understand the use of the UB92 billing format.
- Understand the use of the HCFA 1500 billing format.
