UW Primary Care (UWPC) has outstanding opportunities for FULL-TIME, DAY SHIFT, Patient Services Specialists/Between Visit Care Coordinators.

  • Recruitment for Patient Services Specialist (PSS) positions within the University of Washington Primary Care is ongoing. This requisition serves as a candidate bank that is used to fill multiple departmental openings throughout the UWPC.

  • PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    PATIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST
  • Providing staff, providers, and patients with an efficient system of internal and external communications, including phone answering and call triaging
  • Scheduling provider and ancillary service appointments
  • Obtaining patient demographic, financial, and clinical information
  • Partnering with all members of the clinic team to prioritize patient satisfaction and exceptional care delivery
  • Flexible work schedules will be required to fill evening and weekend hours
  • Other Duties as Requested

  • BETWEEN VISIT CARE COORDINATOR (BVCC)
  • Ensures timely response by following established network standard work and clinic protocols for telephone encounters, Epic in-basket folders, incoming/outgoing phone calls and responding to patient messages in MyChart.
  • Manages incoming multi-line phone calls, MyChart messages, paperwork and fax transmissions from patients, pharmacies, and other providers. Routes to other care team members as necessary for follow up.
  • Gathers pertinent patient history and information regarding needs and requests related to patient care.
  • Facilitates communication between the provider, other members of the care team and the patient regarding their care.
  • Acts as a liaison between provider and other facilities including UW Medicine entities and departments, pharmacies, home health agencies, specialists, etc.
  • Assist with forms completions for providers as needed for patients, insurance companies and employers. Drafts and completes letters on the provider’s behalf for various needs related to work, school, test results, etc.
  • Provide administrative support to the referral process, such as faxing referrals and scanning referral related paperwork as needed to support Patients Are First standards.
  • Other Duties as Requested

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience OR equivalent education/experience.
