Job purpose
Ensure that district staff are paid accurately and timely. Prepare and process all liabilities generated through the payroll processing. Prepare all federal and state required reporting for employee compensation. Duties and responsibilities
  • 1. Accurately input and process payroll records including time cards, time sheet and substitute payroll on a bi-weekly basis
  • Assist district staff with all payroll related issues/questions
  • Responsible for all Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) related duties
  • Payment of monthly WRS contributions and benefits
  • Terminate and add new employees to the WRS website
  • Ensure that rehired annuitants have completed all pertinent forms
  • Filing of Annual WRS reconciliation
  • Pay all taxes and garnishments related to the payroll in the required time frame
  • Process all required reporting for state and federal government in regards to
  • payroll (W-2, 941, state taxes, etc.)
  • Ensure terminated staff receive their last payroll check and are removed from the payroll system, including the removal of all time-off balances
  • Enter and reconcile Health Saving Account (HSA) contribution payments on a bi weekly basis
  • Assume other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree in business
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in payroll processing
  • Excellent math skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Independent worker requiring minimal supervision to perform daily job duties
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently
  • Willingness to work extra hours as required to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in HR or Accounting
