We’re looking for a wildly passionate and engaging People & Experiences Manager to join our DC and Philly-based team. You will be passionate about all elements of the colleague life cycle (recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention) and how this impacts the guest journey. The People + Experiences Manager will be passionate about the guest experience, being a ‘city insider’ and teaching our teams about local recommendations and understand the relationship between engaged colleagues and loyal guests.

This individual will reside in the Washington DC area, but will travel to our other markets (Philadelphia, Virginia + more to come!) as business needs require. This is a hybrid position that will require both time on-property at our hotels, as well as working remotely. This is a great opportunity for someone who has spent a couple of years working in hotel operations and is looking to grow in their career focused on the colleague experience (elements of HR) and guest experience.

What You'll Do

  • Recruit top talent for our hotels, focusing on both salaried and hourly positions across our entire portfolio – screening, interviewing, and evaluating candidates.
  • Onboarding our new hires and leading orientation sessions, helping them get acclimated to life at Modus.
  • Establish relationships with our hotel teams, collaborating to drive team engagement.
  • Support colleague appreciation and recognition efforts; helping to plan and execute these activities.
  • Work with the People & Culture team in administering benefits at the property level, fielding colleague concerns, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Embody our culture and core values, serving as an ambassador for Modus both internally and externally.
  • Work closely with Front Office teams teaching them about the best our cities have to offer and showing them local recommendations to provide for our guests.
  • Drive initiatives to help elevate the guest experience and Trip Advisor rankings at all hotels.
  • Assist in developing partnerships with local businesses that will provide value and serve as a differentiator for our colleagues and guests.
  • Ensure we are living up to our high guest experience standards, both in-person and online.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 3-5 years of hotel operations experience (Front Office preferred).
  • Experience with recruiting, onboarding, training, employee engagement.
  • A passion for collaboration. You thrive on supporting others and understand that their success is your success.
  • A strong ability to multi-task, working on several projects and with multiple teams simultaneously.
  • Proactive and Creative (the other P+C) - willing to come up with fresh ideas and think through how they can be executed.
  • Strong organizational skills and a serious attention to detail. Focused on the details AND the big picture.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills when interacting with colleagues, guests, vendors, and just about anyone else who needs information.
  • Comfortable with feedback. You know how to receive and give feedback upwards, downwards, and laterally in a professional way. Able to hold yourself and other accountable
  • Ability to use the tools of the trade: computers, databases, and HR management systems.
