SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing clerical support to the patient care area ensuring effective and efficient services are delivered and providing patient care under the direction of a qualified professional nurse or other health team members.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to be successful.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Manage the units communication systems to facilitate communication between members of the health care team and their clients. This is to include communication with providers, facilities, hospitals and physician offices regarding any patient concerns/issues related to scheduling.
  • Schedule procedures, appointments and tests according to scheduling guidelines for perioperative, OTIC and Imaging departments.
  • Assist with ensuring scheduled tests and treatments are authorized by third party payers prior to scheduling. Provide accurate and complete information to revenue cycle departments.
  • Interact with all visitors, providers, coworkers and other departments in a customer friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Provide basic cares and be willing to assist nurses with patients in the perioperative department. This includes surgical, procedural, wound, Outpatient Treatment and Infusion Clinic (OTIC) patients.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Obtain and maintain CPR Certification required
  • Current CNA certification preferred
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Experience with scheduling and other clerical duties preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures required
