Job Summary
The Photojournalist opening for Health Beat (Corewell Health's brand journalism site) will work in a highly collaborative team environment involving the photography and photo editing for Health beat and other system communication needs. Receiving assignments from the Health Beat editor and supervision from the Integrated Content Manager. The photojournalist will ensure that all material meets established Corewell Health brand standards and Health Beat photography guidelines while managing story workflows. Understanding of video production, social media and WordPress is a plus.

  • In order to gather the content needed to fulfill this role, on-site work throughout Corewell Health West (greater Grand Rapids, MI) will be needed.
Essential Functions
  • Communicates, collaborates, and coordinates with members of management, staff, physician health care teams and vendors on photography planning, implementation and execution in area of accountability.
  • Supports clients in scheduling and photographing stories and events. Reviews materials with related departments to obtain appropriate internal approvals.
  • Edits photos and uploads to appropriate communication/project management systems vehicles.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of large and small special events including groundbreaking ceremonies, grand openings or receptions within the community.
  • Responsible for expenses impacting departmental budget, or other financial resources within a department.
  • Adheres to corporate brand standards for all materials to ensure consistency in all communications.
  • Collaborates with the Integrated Content Manager and other system leadership to distribute materials within budget by obtaining cost estimates and assisting in the selection of external vendors. Reviews with supervisor work performed by outside services to ensure work meets deadlines and quality standards. Oversees internal approval process as directed by manager and ensures customers receive quality product.
  • May develop system print and Web materials including annual report, fast facts, Web facts, brochures and other messaging to support Corewell Health.
  • May collaborate with web design personnel to determine appropriate action for web-based communication and access.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations Required
  • Photojournalism, photography, or Art Degree preferred
  • 2 years of relevant experience in a work environment with transferrable skills Required
  • 2+ years of experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and Adobe Writer preferred
  • Experience and/or understanding of videography and social media preferred
