The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is a professional who provides coordinated physical therapy to patients of varying diagnoses under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.
Responsibilities:
  • Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care; as developed, delegated and supervised by the Physical Therapist. Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
  • Administers non-complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction, heat, light, cold, water and electrical modalities to patients according to the plan of care, best practices and professional standards.
  • Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
  • Coordinates care and documents coordination with all involved disciplines and supervising therapist involved in the care of the patient as needed and appropriate.
  • Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient and care giver education.
  • Meets mandatory continuing education requirements.
  • Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance as necessary.
  • Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
  • Participates in the Agency’s QAPI program.
  • Participates in Agency-sponsored in-service
  • Promotes the Agency philosophy and administrative policies.
  • Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) therapy program with an associate degree.
  • Licensure: Current State License or a multi-state license issued by a state member of the Physical Therapist Licensure Compact (PTLC) if practicing in a state member of the PTLC.
  • CPR Certification: Requires current CPR certificate, and the ability to maintain a current CPR certificate.
  • Experience: At least one year's experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in an acute care, rehabilitation, or home health setting.
  • Skills: Therapy skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice. Tech-savvy with the ability to learn quickly.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation, current Driver’s License, and valid and current auto liability insurance.
