  • Prepare detailed estimates in accordance with the scope of work, drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare quantity take-offs for pipe and process equipment.
  • Experience with copper nickel and stainless piping.
  • Apply work hour unit rates for each item in the estimate to generate the overall direct work hours.
  • Understand the material and equipment requirements.
  • Understand the temporary facilities requirement and field non-manual staffing requirements.
  • Assist in the solicitation of quotes from material and equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers.
  • Distributes and maintains control of bid documents.
  • Analyze project location and productivity associated with the location.
  • Reviews labor costs and applicable licensing requirements.
  • Ensures that all bid forms are completed and properly executed.
  • Facilitate bid review meetings.
  • Coordinate with other departments during the bid a process on proposals.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience with Shipyard piping and structural estimating, estimating of other crafts will be a plus.
  • Competitive bid experience in the shipyard, petrochemical, gas processing, refining, and other heavy industrial facilities.
  • Shipyard field experience highly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities
  • Knowledge of estimating Best Practices.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Follow safety regulations while on job site visits including the wearing of proper attire, safety gear, protective hat, safety glasses and shoes as required.
  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, ethical, and a team player willing to grow with the company.
  • Overtime may be required to meet work demands

Physical Requirements

  • Office environment – indoor with low to moderate levels of noise
  • Read engineering blueprints and reduced size black and white drawings, specifications, fine print, reports, schedules, estimates and other documents in either hard copy or computer monitor.
  • Required to occasionally observe fabrication progress outdoors or inside small spaces onsite.'
