Role Summary:

The injection molding process technician will support injection mold activity in the Normal Facility from initial mold tryout pre-production, through mass production. Mold support activity will include troubleshooting equipment & mold issues, mold changeovers, machine adjustments, and process monitoring.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers in mold tuning and homeline development
  • Ensure proper startup and shutdown of machines
  • Ensure injection molding process is in accordance with approved procedures and process limits
  • Adjust process parameters to ensure dimensional and visual quality is adhered to
  • Mold changeover and initial part setup
  • Ensure first, middle, last piece part quality
  • Work alongside production, quality, and engineering to ensure quality parts are delivered to customer (assembly) in a timely manner
  • Diagnose vehicle issues
  • Determine correct course of action for issues that arise
  • Coordinate with Quality and Process ENG to implement solutions
  • Establish timelines for repair and impact to production
  • Support repair with other technicians and relevant partners and test/assess efficacy of repair
  • Communicate recurring issues and actively support continuous improvement around station problem solving
  • Help build capability around SME and problem solving in other Techs and Team Members

Qualifications:

  • Multi-Cavity Injection Molds
  • Takeout Robot programming
  • Mold Changeovers
  • Strong communication skills to varying groups
  • Have subject matter expertise and deep understanding of their station – all standard work, machinery, parts, and the support members involved
  • Be knowledgeable of safety protocols and reporting, MES operations (Andon) and shop floor management
  • Problem Solving SME
  • Station SME – knows how to resolve and trouble shoot most common issues
  • Know basic diagnosis and associated
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day.
  • Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather.
