Nature of the Job
Basic Purpose & Objective of the Position
Performs all tasks related to food and beverage service in a courteous and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work area in accordance with company standards and procedures.
Main Duties
Customer Services
- Delivers the brand promise and always provides exceptional guest service.
- Provides excellent service to all customers.
- Handles all guest and employee complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner. Communicates immediately all guest complaints to the Outlet Manager.
- Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.
Financial
- Ensures that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to money handling and licensing are adhered to.
Operational
- Ensures that work station is set up and clean at all the times.
- Keep pool chairs and tables neatly arranged, clean and clear of debris.
- Take customer food and beverage orders.
- Extensive knowledge of food and beverage in order to service and up-sell our product, including liquors and cocktails.
- Ensure that all silverware and glasses are wiped and spotless.
- Mark tickets appropriately for food orders.
- Enter all sales in POS system without errors. Double check list of items before submitting.
- Make sure that all product served are accounted for on the final bill before presenting it.
- Ensure that food is delivered in a timely manner.
- Verify guest satisfaction with each table.
- Anticipate guest needs.
- Wish each and every guest a warm farewell and thank them for coming.
- At the end of the shift deliver all checks and report to the appropriate place according to rules.
- Adhere to all the opening and closing duties.
- Adhere to all cash handling policies.
- Attend daily pre shift/communication meeting.
- Generate a good atmosphere
- Bring all necessary towels out to the pool area and place them neatly on the towel table with ends facing the bar and color-coordinated. Towels are to be placed neatly on the towel stand.
- Provide guests with towel, chair and umbrella service.
- Check all trash bins and empty towel bins.
- Any other duties assigned by Supervisor. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description.
People Development
- Supports Swire Hotels’ cultural and people development implementations and characteristics.
Other Duties
- Attends and contributes to all food and beverage training classes and departmental meetings/training as required.
- Always exercises responsible behavior and positively represents the hotel team and Swire Hotels.
- Maintains strong, professional relationship with relevant representatives from competitor hotels, business partners and other organizations.
- Reads the hotel's Employee Handbook and understands and adheres to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to computer resources, fire, hygiene, health and safety.
- Ensures high standards of personal presentation and grooming.
- Responds to changes within the organization, as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.
- Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Knowledge of the basic functions of food & beverage operations.
- Working knowledge of acceptable standards of sanitation and proper chemical usage.
- Ability to perform basic math skills.
- Ability to handle money and make correct change.
- Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Knowledge, understanding, and compliance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels, and other instructions.
