Production Potter

ABOVE ALL, we seek employees who are people of deep character, value hard work, responsibility, sense of humor, humility, and honesty.

We are in a specialty field that requires knowledgeable individuals. While we have found that many of the actual skills that years in pottery can give, we cannot recreate an inherent maturity, motivation, self-determination, playfulness, and curiosity that a person must have to be a valuable contribution to our company and withstand the daily pressures of a small business. As a fast-growing small business, we seek to be ultra careful about the quality of our human resources. We are also deeply committed to equal opportunity for all, and are working toward the benefits of diversity in our hiring and practices.

MUST be able to lift and transport 50 lbs. (boxes of clay).

==========================================

Our Core Values are at the heart of everything we do. The best candidate is one who in interested in contributing to a value-driven business and team.

Our Core Commitments: When “Work=Care”

We believe businesses can have beneficial impacts on their communities and take leadership roles that positively influence culture. Here's how we do that in our setting:

We are very active in our local community and are strong small business advocates. We work not only toward the strength of our own business, but the growth of both the local art and economic communities of which we are deeply a part. We seek to pull other businesses and non-profit organizations into our events and projects whenever possible believing that if we work together, we will all be stronger. We also "put our money where our mouth is" and source all of our clay locally to keep our money cycling through the local economy. This has the added benefit of reducing pollution and waste in our ongoing practices.

We work hard to nurture sustainable practices. All of our packaging is either sustainably sourced, or gathered from our customers and neighbors to be reused by us. We make an effort across our business to "reduce, reuse & recycle" whenever possible. For example, we only fire full kilns when possible to reduce energy usage, and are careful about both the health and safety of the materials we use in glazes.

We pursue economic equity in our pricing structures. It's difficult to make inspiring handmade art available to people of all income levels. But we regularly look for chances to offer "seconds" (imperfect pieces) and special sales for those who cannot afford the inspiration that handmade artwork can bring. In the past, we have given pieces of our work away to college students as an attempt to plant a seed of wonder and curiosity about artisanship.

We find ways to offer our teaching services to the whole community. We do pottery classes and experiences with local non-profits and organizations that are serving others in need. For instance, we currently work with a local church to engage marginalized people in the process of making pots, as we know that clay can have a healing effect on people universally.
