Pre-Press Graphics Technician

Are you a detail-obsessed visual communicator? Do you have a background in printing, graphic design, typography or other visual arts? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team.

Under general supervision of the Pre-Press Manager, you will utilize professional publishing and pre-press software to design and create graphics, and prepare projects for production on offset printing presses, digital copiers and wide format printers, in accordance with company graphic arts and printing standards.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

• Use specialized publishing software to format and combine text, numerical data, photographs, charts, and other visual graphic elements to produce files ready for printing production.
• Work collaboratively with team members to prepare their files for the printing production process.
• Develop overall layout and design of newsletters, brochures, books, posters, and other documents.
• Prepare client photographs and illustrations for the printing process, including color correction, image retouching and silhouetting, and special filtering and textural effects.
• Produce high quality color proofs and finished offset printing plates.
• Create projects using large format poster printer and mid-size digital printers.
• Troubleshoot and repair problematic files as needed.
• Review client files for adherence to the graphic identity standard and the United States Postal Service mailing regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, positive upbeat attitude.

• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor that reflects the company’s commitment to quality, continuous improvement and respect for individuals.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs to department equipment.
• Work with pre-press supervisor to develop, implement, and maintain pre-press workflow procedures.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven graphic designing experience.
• A strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics.
• Familiarity with design software and technologies (Adobe Creative Cloud, OSX, Windows)
• A keen eye for aesthetics and details
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
• Work background in traditional pre-press, including knowledge of trapping, halftones, screen angles, and dot gain.
• Ability to organize time and multiple projects.
• Troubleshooting and communication skills.

Full Time Position - Monday to Friday
