Position Summary:

This position is responsible for leading, overseeing, and managing all mortgage operations for HomeAmerican Mortgage Corporation (a subsidiary of MDC Holdings, Inc.) in order to achieve company objectives. HomeAmerican Mortgage provides primary mortgage support to Richmond American Homes. This executive position leads and directs the Company’s loan functions, sets policies and procedures, and oversees all mortgage loan activities and ensures compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides overall direction of the organization (170+ employees).
  • Full service P & L responsibility for the mortgage company.
  • Maximize profits through establishing business plan, achieving forecasts, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Manage risk arising from the mortgage origination process.
  • Knowledge of and accountable for all aspects of regulatory compliance.
  • Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives.
  • Establishes relationships with the Richmond American Homes’ divisional, regional, and national leaders.
  • Coordinates short and long-range financial development and management of the mortgage operations.
  • Partners with corporate office to achieve corporate goals as well as division goals.
  • Overall responsibility for recruitment, hiring, staff development, work scheduling, evaluation, discipline, salary recommendations, terminations, and retention of staff.
  • Establishes and assesses employee goals; reviews employee performance by identifying strengths and weaknesses.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in finance or business, or equivalent work experience. 10-plus years of mortgage industry experience, leading high production volume (10,000+ loans annually) with an extensive background in leadership and operational roles.
  • Strong technical knowledge relating to mortgage banking compliance and risk mitigation strategies; FHA, VA, FHLMC, FNMA and other investor guidelines; excellent interfacing / communication skills at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute a highly efficient mortgage approval process while driving high levels of customer satisfaction. Conversant in relevant technologies; excellent interfacing / communication skills and presence at all levels; experience in setting high standards and inspiring others; ability to move effortlessly from the strategic to the tactical.
  • Technical and comprehensive knowledge of all accounting functional areas.
  • Skilled in math applications.
  • Excellent time management, communications, decision making, presentation, human relations and organizational skills required.
  • Subject to applicable laws, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by start date under M.D.C. Holdings, Inc. vaccination mandate for all employees who will be working in the Corporate/Home Office at 4350 S. Monaco St. effective Nov. 1st, 2021.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $250,000-300,000
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Performance bonus based on results
