Principal Android Developer

The Role

The Fidelity Client Solutions Technology organization is looking for a Principal Android Developer for the growing Autonomous Finance team to drive, design, and develop best-in-class native Android/Kotlin mobile experiences. These mobile experiences seek to bring together capabilities such as account aggregation, financial planning, payments, investment advice, and AI-enabled automation capabilities to better serve our clients more efficiently, partner with them to accomplish their financial objectives, and do it in a way which minimizes complexity and saves them time.

• You will drive execution of multiple development work streams while ensuring design and architecture is scalable, resilient, and extensible.
• You will provide coaching, guidance, training, and mentorship to junior Android engineers on the team while helping define android engineering standards, best practices, and tooling.
• You will give back to the team by developing solutions that help improve developer efficiency or sharing knowledge about new techniques and technologies.
• You will be ensuring technology decisions align with Android and Material Design architecture standards and strategies.
• You will be evaluating and recommending technology and frameworks for flexibility, long-term viability, and time to market.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience developing Android apps using Kotlin in an Agile development environment.
• Participated in the release of at least 2 publicly available Apps participating from inception to launch using CI/CD tooling like Jenkins, Artifactory and SonarQube.
• Good Knowledge of Google’s Material Design guidelines and reactive patterns.
• Demonstrated experience building multi-module Android Apps leveraging MVVM and/or Clean Architecture.
• Knowledge of APIs, infrastructure, data architecture, security, and emerging technologies in Google’s ecosystem to create performant, resilient and robust Android Apps.
• Excellent understanding of testing concepts and frameworks using Junit, Espresso, and Mockito.
• Good understanding of Android Jetpack Compose as well as open-source libraries like Retrofit, Picasso and OkHttp to build modern, architecturally compliant, and future-ready apps.
• Experience with Coroutines, Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) is a plus.
