Principal Engineer, Replay Simulation - Autonomous Vehicles Job at NVIDIA
We are seeking phenomenal technical talent with proven experience in autonomous systems tooling that power development and research. Replay Platform Team is looking for software engineering expertise to build in-vehicle log replay solution and bring NVIDIA’s autonomous vehicle product to the world. You will work on innovative technologies alongside with key leads involved in Data platform, Vehicle logging software and cloud infrastructure tools for NVIDIA’s next-generation automotive products.
We are looking for a Principal Engineer with a background in creating a vision and building distributed systems software, applications and excellent interworking skills to engage with developers and partners working in sophisticated software designs and solutions. Ideal candidate is able to work on complex and sensitive problems and yet provides state-of-the art solutions that are highly creative and may result in patents. Projects usually involve new product areas. Uses independent judgment and a high level of innovation to accomplish objectives as well as helps defines project scope.
What you'll be doing:

Architect and spec out software solutions and building blocks for Replay in AV

Be hands on and help build rich tooling to improve developer efficiency and scale of replay solution

Work with large volume of in-vehicle logs and data, build automation to recreate on-road events in replay without human in loop

Collaborate with variety of teams including Infrastructure, fleet platform, Perception, Planning and Control, Data platform and core platform

Work with product managers and other AV leaders in defining and use-cases and come up with arch, design spec and rapid prototype

Drive high level architecture for multiple teams

Be part of an internationally distributed team with locations in US, China and India
What we need to see:

BS (or equivalent experience) with 15+ years of experience / MS with 12+ years proven experience

Experience is building large scale systems that deals with volume of data and logs
-
Good grasp over programming in Python, C++

Ability to design and prototype solutions for problems involving data pipelines, cloud / distributed systems

Experience in designing, developing and debugging system and application software
-
Experience in AV software space, around simulation and replay will be a plus
Ways to stand out from the crowd:

Experience of debugging and/or developing AV software

Background building large-scale test infrastructure in the AV domain is a plus

Experience with Go programming language

Good grasp or experience with Bazel build system

Authoring and reviewing project documentation such as Requirements documents and Design documents

The base salary range is $251,000 - $377,000. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
