Prior Authorization and Admixture Technician - Hunt Cancer Center Job at Torrance Memorial Physician Network
Torrance Memorial Physician Network is looking for a Prior Authorization and Admixture Pharmacy Technician to join our Hunt Cancer Center team. This pharmacy technician position will focus primarily on processing prescriptions, prior authorizations, and copay assistance applications for oral oncolytics. Admixing of sterile products, primarily chemotherapy and immunotherapy, will be on an as-needed basis.
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
· Processes prescriptions, prior authorizations, and copay assistance applications for oral oncolytics
· Must be competent in data entry, insurance billing of prescriptions, filling, and labeling
· Performs drug inventory activities in the oral dispensing pharmacy to ensure adequate stock
· Compounds sterile products, primarily chemotherapy and immunotherapy, using aseptic technique and compiling with USP 797 guidelines
· Prepares products for admixture following the manufacturer’s package insert, including performing calculations
· Cleans the I.V. admixture area in accordance with USP 797 guidelines
· Stocks the I.V. admixture room with drugs, intravenous solutions, and other supplies utilized
· Interacts with patients and medical staff with courtesy and respect
· Performs other duties as assigned
Job requirements:
· Currently registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy
