Position Detail
- Perform the mechanical engineering design
- Development and validation of mechanical components using CAD, 3D models, and PLM software for the development and production of new innovative automotive component products and processes
- Provide project coordination, estimation, planning and scheduling of product design
- Conduct internal and external inspections to identify new products and processes and support their implementation
- Coordinate cooperation between businesses with external service providers for projects regarding the validation of new processes and technologies and new products
- Analyze customer technical and contract specifications
- Release engineering changes in PLM system (SAP)
- Conduct modeling and detailing to exhibit required dimensions of components (ie: tolerance stack up)
- Evaluate client requirements and update existing models
- Evaluate product concepts to identify potential problems
- Utilize engineering and FEA knowledge to identify issues with existing designs and devise methods to solve issues
- Provide integration of internal contract specifications
- Work on releasing drawing and engineering changes
- Evaluate product concepts
- Ensure documentation of projects and products
- Support technical strategy for product development.
- Interface with customers as required for product development.
- Support project team from cradle to grave with heavy emphasis on launch activities.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineer (Mechanical or Industrial), higher education preferred
- 4+ years of experience in an Engineering position in the automotive industry
- 4+ years of experience developing and validating mechanical components using 3D CAD models/PLM software
- Experience evaluating client requirements and update existing models
- Experience evaluating product concepts to identify potential problems
- Experience identifying issues with existing designs and devise methods to solve issues.
- SAP experience preferred and/or other PLM system.
- BIW, aluminum extrusion/Hot stamping/cold stamping product and process experience preferred
- Product launch experience preferred.
