Production Planner Job at Glatfelter

Located in Madison, TN, Glatfelter is seeking a Production Planner to be responsible for establishing, reviewing, and maintaining the production schedule in alignment with the Master Production Schedule. Establishing the production plan will involve working closely with operations leaders, and others to coordinate manufacturing plans that achieve the company objectives relative to customer service, efficient resource/capacity utilization and inventory management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establishes production manufacturing priorities schedule for the customer demands consistent with master scheduling requirements, inventory objectives, and make to stock level goals
  • Meets minimum weekly with Converting Planning Team Lead to ensure OTAPIF and Customer Satisfaction is maintained
  • Meet established schedules. Meets daily with cross-functional team to resolve delayed customer shipments, component shortages, overtime, priorities, and identified problems
  • Updates weekly open order report and provides delay reasons as necessary
  • Coordinates Kanban and material requirements
  • Manages rework product planning
  • Coordinates manufacturing activities and monitors schedule performance against plan to manage priorities and understanding operational delays
  • Initiates prioritization of customer demands due to changes in plans or customer requirement
  • Ability to effectively make complex decisions with limited time and information and can determine decision making criteria based on priorities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and independent problem resolution
  • Data access/retrieval skills with experience in data analysis, data manipulation using MS Excel and/or other tools as provided. Has knowledge of and adheres to all departmental rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Must respond to all after-hours demands unless previously arranged with management
  • Maintain a team effort attitude and approach
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical, business, or other related discipline (Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, Production/Planning Management)
  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred
  • 3 – 5 years relevant experience in supply chain, production planning or operations preferred
  • Experience in SAP ERP system is preferred
  • Advance Excel user experience (formulas, pivot tables, graphs)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of production and procurement processes
  • Ability to work professionally in a team environment

Effort/Physical Demands:

  • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
  • Overtime as required

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company
