Hino Motors is seeking a Production Team Lead for both Day and Night Shifts at our Hino location in Marion, Arkansas. The Production Team Lead will be responsible for training and supporting the other team members in the line by providing expertise on the operational aspects of the line. May step in for any of the processes within the line in case of absence of a team member enabling the continuity in the production of axles, suspension members and any other element manufactured by Hino for its customers or for supporting the production of those elements by inspecting, providing logistics support, receiving raw materials, store them and delivering finished good and perform final or routine quality checks to ensure quality.

What you will be doing:

  • Operates production line machinery following the Standardized Work Instruction of the processes under his/her responsibility.
  • Cross trains in all the processes of the assigned line and trains and mentor other team members in the appropriate production methods.
  • In the absence of any team member of the line, steps into the line to ensure that the process flow is continuous.
  • Observes operator’s techniques as they perform their job functions and ensures adherence to Standardized Work
  • Coaches the development of the operators by encouraging continuous improvement
  • Sets up job rotation according to the supervisor guidelines to allow for variety of functions utilizing different muscle groups.
  • Initiates Stop-Call-Wait if abnormal conditions are detected to prevent flow out
  • In case of machine failure, contacts the line supervisor to ensure appropriate trouble-shooting.
  • May be required to obtain certification to drive a fork lift.
  • May move raw material and elements to replenish the lines and ensures that enough material is available to keep the line running (Just In Time).
  • Suggest ideas for continuous improvement of the processes under his /her responsibility or for other processes.
  • Conducts visual inspection of finished and goods in production to ensure that quality standards are met.
  • Responsible for keeping the work areas clean according to the 5S’s standards.
  • Responsible for operating within the safety standards, including following the lock out-tag out procedures for equipment not in use or that is defective or needs maintenance.
  • Create standard work instructions and route instructions using Excel and/or standardized forms.
  • Complete time studies for each process as well as complete ergonomics evaluations for each process.
  • Train new team members.
  • Track downtime and maintain quality.
  • Keep charts and graphs up to date.
  • Assign work to team members to ensure support to our customers.
  • Step in for Supervisor when absent or necessary.
  • This job requires the flexibility to move to other functions within the lines or to the support areas cross functionally.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience to perform the position:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Skills and abilities required to be successful in the position:

  • Ability to effectively support multiple assignments to meet deadlines/targets.
  • Determine root cause, by identifying and effectively resolving problems, based on data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Familiarity with gages such as caliper, micrometers, indicators, joe blocks, attribute gage and other gages as required ensuring quality of parts
  • Experience with CMM, Contracer, Roundness Tester is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar process concepts, primarily through hands on work, observation and research, mechanically inclined and able to understand the importance of datums and trouble shooting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and 5S/TPS principles.
  • Ability to self supervise, complete task, assignments, and projects on time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to frequently rotate and/or flex the trunk
  • Ability to constantly stand up, bend, grip, hold and reach up to 24”.
  • Will be required to take a leadership assessment
  • Maintain confidentiality of information for all Hino and Customer parts and processes.
