Program Coordinator Job at Newton Community Farm
Newton Community Farm engages a vibrant community in sustainable agriculture and best environmental practices on the historic Angino farm by: providing locally-grown produce through our community supported agriculture (CSA) program, our farm stand, Newton Farmers’ Market, and donations to local food pantries; educating the public about sustainable practices for agriculture, land use, and stewardship of other natural resources; preserving Newton’s last working farm as a historic site and valuable open space; and aiding gardening enthusiasts through our annual spring seedling sale.
Newton Community Farm is seeking a part-time, year-round Program Manager. The purpose of this role is to help create interesting, educational and community-building opportunities for public engagement at the Farm and in the community. Position responsibilities include:
- Implement current programs and help develop Farm tour program, Storywalks, and other new ideas in the works
- Research and keep abreast of topics related to the Farm, local experts, supporters’ interests, and trends to suggest speakers and topics for new programs
- Create marketing materials for programs and events (Canva), advertise on local websites and listservs, and put up flyers
- Communicate and coordinate with speakers, vendors, facilitators, community partners, and supporters to create successful learning and engagement opportunities (offered onsite, offsite locally, and virtually)
- Write program descriptions and event information and updates for posting online and in newsletters
- Update and edit website (WordPress)
- Assist with program registrations, sending reminders, creating and printing attendee lists, photo permission paperwork, and respond to inquiries related to programs
- Help organize volunteers and tasks for programs and events (Signup Genius)
- Provide administrative support as needed
The ideal candidate to join our small but mighty team will be friendly, kind, self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, a team player and a problem-solver. Must have great people skills. Need to be able to prioritize a varied list of tasks. Ability to stay focused and also multi-task. Must be technologically proficient. The Program Manager works closely with and reports to the Executive Director.
This is a part-time (20 hours per week with some flexibility), year-round position with onsite and remote work. Some evening and weekend work required during programs and events. Compensation is $20/hour. We offer seven paid vacation days in calendar year 2023 (which will increase each consecutive year of employment and must be scheduled in advance). We abide by the state sick leave plan. We also offer specific paid holidays, healthcare stipend, weekly farm stand credit during the growing season, and the option to participate in our 401k plan.
