The Program Manager oversees and manages the provision of support for assigned participants living at particular sites, including supervision of staff. This position interacts with program participants and must be familiar with the Guiding Values issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration. The Program Manager seeks to act in accordance with those values and upholds the agency mission “to serve individuals with developmental disabilities by providing an array of residential and other support services that will result in maximizing the person’s quality of life.”

What Your Day Looks Like:

  • Supervise the provision of participant’s health, behavioral, safety, social and medical support services
  • Coordinate, facilitate and assist with participant’s medical and behavioral programs
  • Consistently and accurately maintain client records in compliance with local, state, federal, agency and contractual regulations or requirements
  • Assist with the supervision and management of both client’s individual and house financial accounts; Coordinate with appropriate personnel to protect participants’ financial resources
  • Supervise and oversee the staffing support in the homes, working to promote staff cohesion and build staff morale
  • Provide personnel supervision to assigned staff
  • Maintain and sustain positive working relationships with participants’ families and friends, vocational program staff, day program staff, DDA Case/Resource Management and other service providers
  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars; complete individual training requirements annually and maintain certifications and licensures, as required
  • Operate a personal and/or agency vehicle on a regular basis; Maintain personal vehicle in a safe operating condition:

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Is at least 21 years of age
  • Has a master’s degree in social services or a closely related field and one year of experience working with children or youth; OR
  • Has a bachelor’s degree in social services or a closely related field and two years of experience working with children or youth; or
  • Has five years of successful full-time experience in a relevant field; and
  • Has demonstrated supervisory abilities that promote effective staff performance; and
  • Has relevant experience, training and demonstrated skill in each area that he/she will be managing or supervising.
  • Has a valid Washington State drivers’ license, current automobile insurance and qualifying driving record.

  • Has an intermediate to advanced knowledge of principles and processes for providing supported living and personal care supports
  • Has an Intermediate ability to handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiate with others
  • Is willing and able to encourage others and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Can identify the developmental, educational or training needs of others; assist in the development of training programs or classes; facilitate teaching or instructing others
  • Has a basic knowledge of the principles of performance management and the supervision of personnel
  • Demonstrates an ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense and to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
  • Can pass a background inquiry clearance from an authorized state agency

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position generally works in a contemporary office or residential setting with exposure to fluctuating noise volumes. This position will work with general office equipment (computers, fax machines, telephones) as well as personal computer equipment (desktops, monitors and related peripheral equipment). There is minimal exposure to dust, copier or printer toner, general household chemicals (dish soap, hand soap, etc.) within the office or residential setting. This position requires an ability to operate a personal computer, verbally interact with clients and read and understand documents.
Depending on individual client needs, this position may work with adaptive medical equipment (walker, wheel chair, Hoyer lift, wheel chair lift, gait belt, etc.) and may be required to provide hands-on or stand-by assistance. There may be exposure to blood borne pathogens, therefore employees are required to use personal protective equipment.
This position will operate an automobile to perform the essential functions of this position, therefore the use of vision and hearing are required for safety. Travel between work sites will be required. This position also requires the physical ability to support clients that have intellectual and developmental disabilities and may be assaultive or aggressive, medically fragile and/or unable to ambulate. Work sites may have flights of stairs and require the ability to traverse. Adaptive equipment may be used as long as physical safety is ensured at all times.
