Currently we have an opening for a Project Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Delphos, OH with support to our other locations. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership as an equipment, system, and product specialist. They will work with various internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams as well as suppliers to bring packaging solutions from ideations to implementation.
Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and champion a system vision, technical road map and capital needs to support a long-range plan
  • Identify, lead, develop, and execute solutions for line efficiency gains, reliability improvements and productivity improvements
  • Lead and support technical improvements and new product launches
  • Deliver technical scope for packaging capital projects and vertical start up process
  • Lead packaging material design change for cost reduction and line efficiency improvements.
  • Coach, provide technical expertise on foundational systems (machine centerlines, CILs, basic conditions, vertical startup etc.)
  • Understand and leverage accounting principles for plant, system, and products
  • Apply statistical methods to solve problems
  • Develop a technical training plan for lines in support of line operators and mechanics
  • Provide leadership in application of performance metrics (data accuracy for line efficiency and loss tracking)
  • Determine package design harmonization opportunities across product groups for lower material costs, and minimal waste.
  • Determine new package designs that provide functionality, consumer acceptance, and lowest material cost
  • Develop process for rapid deployment of new product launches.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience in packaging engineering, process/ system development, product development, quality engineering, maintenance, or manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in packaging design and automation
  • Demonstrates learning agility, technical leadership, adaptability, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision making, and trouble-shooting abilities
  • Ability to work with and influence diverse groups at various levels and across functions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communications, strong listening skills, strong coaching/teaching skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Proven leadership of Continuous Improvement Process
  • Experience negotiating and working with external suppliers
  • Able to travel up to 25-30%

Demonstrated technical skills

  • Understands packaging machine functionality
  • Product and packaging material knowledge (specifications)
  • Expertise in manufacturing information and packaging cost accounting systems
  • Understands packaging material costs, design, and packaging design change process
  • Understands quality metrics, analysis methods and procedures
