RCM Project Manager

Role Summary:

The primary purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the RCM initiatives through project management methodologies.

The Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end project management support of one or more project workplans. The Project Manager will independently plan and effectively co-manage all aspects of small to medium size projects with the project owner including cost, schedule, scope, quality, value, and project resources following the appropriate methodologies. Responsible as single point of contact to clients, creation and tracking of detailed project plan and associated methods of communication to all level of stakeholders, facilitation of requirements gathering, proactive risk mitigation, and regular project status updates. The Project Manager should be an adaptable team player who helps remove barriers to timely project completion. The project manager should have experience building and maintaining client relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Leadership on strategy for initiatives to improve financial performance.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Lead and coordinate quality, efficiency projects and activities to ensure continuous best practices, and drive business results and financial growth.
  • Work closely with management and team members on and be an active participant in creating highly efficient and cost-effective workflows.
  • Analyze existing workflows, perform benchmark gap analysis and assist in the design to transform workflows.
  • Develop & update process documentation, work instructions and other tools to support execution
  • Organize cross functional groups across departments to work collaboratively toward the effective and efficient pursuit of pre-determined goals.
  • Prioritize projects to ensure timely completion of deliverables and milestones.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools and follow up on deliverables.
  • Track and follow-up on project milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Conduct project post implementation review and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Perform other duties as required for the success of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply robust project management structure to ensure effective delivery of the assigned Revenue Cycle initiatives in areas including: Project prioritization and planning including approach, methodology, scheduling and risk and mitigation strategy

  • Support and drive project execution through: Risk/issue management

Project monitoring, tracking, and reporting
Cross workstream dependency management
Procurement
Quality assurance
Change management; and
Communication management

  • Manage and hold to account the input of workstream leads and subject matter authorities into key project activities
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Create and maintain key project management documents as well as meeting agendas, minutes, and project status updates/reports
  • Undertake analysis to enable project-related decision making
  • Develop communication and communication strategies to actively engage partners as and when appropriate
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Support all key project team members to deliver on project objectives
  • Measure outcomes to enable identification of effective delivery
  • Conduct project post implementation review and create a recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Perform other duties as required for the success of the project.

Experience:

  • 3-5 Years experience in managing complex and fast paced projects
  • 3 Years prior experience in Revenue Cycle Operations preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Equivalent Project Management Experience. PMP or related certification a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Outstanding ability to analyze, isolate, and interpret business needs and assist in the development of appropriate solutions
  • Extensive working understanding of program/project management methodologies and tools and their pragmatic application
  • Ability to apply analytical skill and conceptual thinking to operations and system planning across a range of project and program technologies.
  • A high degree of initiative and a flexible approach – comfortable with competing demands, ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Experience in managing change and working collaboratively with partners to ensure a project’s success – including a proven ability to bring teams and individuals along for the journey
  • Ability to comprehend clinical and business processes and workflows, interdependencies of people/process/platform, and then sequence what is most important
  • Take a partnering approach with managers and partners i.e., establish relationships and focus on change management
  • Strong passion for patient care and healthcare, with compassion for patients and frontline staff
  • Experience in healthcare or an understanding of the healthcare environment and relevant processes and systems is preferred
