The Psychiatric Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) will provide psychiatric/medical direction and consultation, as well as direct psychiatric services, to clients of Family Preservation System on a part-time basis, anticipate 1-2 days per week. The ARNP works in collaboration with program managers and clinical supervisors in all programs to ensure quality medical care of consumers and quality clinical consultation and training to staff. The ARNP collaborates with community partners, colleagues, and families to provide family-centered, strengths-based, individualized and tailored care to consumers of CCS services.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Conducts psychiatric assessment of children and youth.
  • Participates in regular intervention reviews and ongoing treatment planning for all consumers.
  • Meets regularly and as needed with consumers for medication monitoring/management; consults with families as appropriate.
  • Provides regular psychiatric/medical consultation and direction to clinical staff.
  • Evaluates medication needs, prescribes, and supervises ongoing medication needs for all consumers (and family members as needed).
  • Participates in community collaborations and planning efforts on behalf of consumers. Consults regularly with leadership around service needs.
  • Completes all paperwork and record keeping required of position.
  • Provides after-hours, on-call response.
  • Provides periodic in-service training to staff regarding psychiatric/medical and clinical issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING IN A CANDIDATE:

  • Licensed to practice as an ARNP in the State of Washington with full prescriptive authority and DEA certificate in good standing.
  • Two years’ experience working with children and families in an inpatient or outpatient clinical setting; strong knowledge of child, adolescent, and family development.
  • Must successfully pass required background clearances prior to an offer of employment.
  • Demonstrated competence in assessment, diagnosis, medication evaluation and current, sound prescriptive practices for seriously disturbed children and youth.
  • Commitment to strengths-based, family-centered, individualized and tailored clinical approaches.
  • Ability to understand and work with multiple, client-serving systems, e.g. mental health, child welfare, education, juvenile justice/courts, public health, social services.
  • Commitment to working collaboratively with staff of diverse backgrounds, training, and levels of experience and to promoting teamwork in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and positively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated commitment to preservation of a workplace which embraces diversity.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach/mentor and train staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

  • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
