Job Summary: The Part Time Associate Program Assistant will provide support to Sheltering Arms NY community school programs at Jordan L. Mott MS 22 in the Bronx with specific responsibilities for assisting Sheltering Arms and school staff to meet mandated outcomes in the areas of attendance, parent engagement, pantry program, physical and mental health services for the school community, students, and their families

  • Assist SANY and MS 22 attendance team to implement attendance program including:
    • Assist in promoting students’ attendance program.
    • Notify parents when students are late or absent
    • Update students’ log/chart on reasons for absences and lateness
    • Assist SANY and school staff with home visits
    • Submit attendance weekly progress log report to the CSD
    • Assist SANY and school staff in outreach efforts to parents and students.
    • Assist SANY and school staff with students’ activities.
  • Assist SANY and school staff with parent engagement activities including:
    • Pantry program activities including receiving deliveries of groceries, personal care and household products; packing items for distribution; record keeping; distribution set up, clean up and organization/maintenance of pantry space; etc.
    • Submit pantry weekly report to the CSD
    • Assist SANY and school staff in promoting and organizing a variety of activities including parent meetings, talent shows, holidays activities, and conferences for the purpose of providing support to the school, showcasing students’ talents/abilities, increase parent/community engagement to support students’ learning, and celebrating the diversity of the community
    • Perform record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the CSD in providing necessary reports to all stakeholders.
    • Perform additional duties/projects as assigned by supervisor

Position Minimum Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in parents/community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage activities
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records while maintaining confidentiality
  • Computer skills and the ability to utilize software applications
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships, adapt to changing work priorities, and communicate with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of the community
  • Freedom to work Flexible hours
  • Preference, bilingual mainly English and Spanish

Shift: 9am-2pm

Pay: $25/hr
