Public Works Laborer for the City of Shannon Hills

Full Time Positions - Pay based on experience $12-15/hr

Summary of Job Duties: Receive training in work methods and prodedures; perform manual and semi-skilled construction and maintence work; operate construction and maintenance equipment; perform cleanup work; notify customers of repair work; will be required to perform tasks for other departments and/or areas of the city; other jobs as specified by Public Works Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of lawn equipment i.e. zero turn mower, trimmers, small tractors, blowers and edgers. Knowledge of basic hand tools including but not limited to wrenches, socket sets, picks and shovels. Knowledge of underground utilities. Knowledge of water and wastewater line repair. Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance in order to check fluids, belts, etc. to ensure safe operation. Ability to complete reports. Ability to lift minimum of 80 lbs. Ability to work from verbal, written, diagrammed and phone instructions. Ability to learn and use related construction safety practices. Ability to learn to drive standard transmission vehicles. Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions. Ability to work in confined spaces.

Special Qualifications: Must be 18 years old. Must have a valid Arkansas Driver's License. Good Driving Record. Must be avilable for call outs; nights, weekends and holidays. Must possess good interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with customers and other employees. Must have the ability to obtain a Class B CLD within 1 year. Must live within 25 miles of Shannon Hills.
