Purchasing Agent/ Buyer Job at Lhoist
POSITION SUMMARY: This Purchasing Agent/Buyer position is responsible for the everyday processing of purchase orders in accordance with the purchasing policies for the respective plants. In this role, the Purchasing Agent/Buyer will work indirectly with AP to ensure invoices are processed and paid according to LNA terms. The Purchasing Agent/Buyer will also source and negotiate materials and services as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
- Process purchase orders diligently, with follow-up on expedited orders.
- Negotiate with suppliers to purchase direct and indirect materials and services.
- Work closely with receiving and finance to expedite invoice payment.
- Manage day-to-day supplier interactions (ordering, delivery times, Invoice payment, and purchase order closing).
- Feed supplier performance data to performance management
- Maintain vendor records, i.e.; quotes, savings, and contract administration.
- Promote purchasing processes and programs with end users and drive compliance.
ATTRIBUTES:
- SAP MM / SRM intimate knowledge required
- Ability to maintain effective working relations with user groups and vendors
- Ability to listen and ascertain the needs of the respected clients
- Ability to effectively negotiate
- Knowledge of accounting principles as related to procurement.
- Ability to analyze data, make judgments and develop reports.
- Familiarity with the Lime, cement, gypsum, mining, minerals or related industries preferred
Required Experience: A Minimum of 2-5 years.
Preferred Education: An associate degree in Business or a related field.
